Chase the Little Things (Before November Sneaks Up on You)

Days fly by like lightning. Sometimes, Friday shows up and I think, what in the heck even happened this week. And that pattern can go on and on till blamo, it's November.

It's especially tough when you work alone. There's no one to tell you, "Nice job" or "That was awesome." So it's really easy to just drone on from task to task.

Stopping a moment to appreciate or even create the good stuff is essential so you have some markers in life. And it doesn't have to be some "Instagram worthy" moment. It can be the smallest joy, and it's on you to chase the little things instead of waiting for them to land in your lap.

When you walk your dog, stop by a playground and let him play on the equipment. Grab a glass of red and lounge on your deck. Pick up that book you've been meaning to read and dive in.

No one wants to wait for the good stuff. So while you're busy living your life, LIVE-YOUR-LIFE. Don't wait for it…chase it down, grab hold, and enjoy the little things.

Take any opportunity. For example, Friday afternoon my internet went out right when I was about send an audition in. It was lunchtime anyway, so I figured maybe it'd be back after. Nope. OK, I'll get in an extra walk with our dog, Friday. Still not back…so I'll pick up groceries. And the outage continued, so I made some bandanas for my puppy class.

I love that I had an incredibly productive day without internet, and sent my audition that evening when my connection was restored. Turns out chasing the little things doesn't need perfect conditions. It just needs you to show up for whatever's in front of you.

So next time everything goes sideways, don't panic. Go make a bandana.
